Bortz_S_Online

Basing my project on covid, I placed my phone, a mask, and my computer on the long chairs and had my model stand with her reflection in the screen. This symbolizes online school, having to wear masks, and how everything was in lockdown.

Bortz_S_Mask

I cut up a disposable mask and placed it on the floor. I got down on my stomach and created a shallow depth of field with the focus on the blue mask and the blurred background.

I took my two pictures of the same cut up mask and overlaid them. I turned up the vibrancy and turned down the temperature. I turned the opacity of the second image so you can see the two masks clearly, but still having a sense of blurriness.

My model used her sweatshirt to act as a mask and I overlaid two images and edited the background. This shows an illusion of two people and using anything for a mask since they are required. It can symbolize the blur of everything going on.

I composited two images and had my image of spray-painted cauliflower with a selection of a mask. I edited around the edges to smooth things out and turned down the opacity.

Bortz_S_6 ft Apart

I had my two models go outside and stand 6 feet apart for social distancing. I overlaid two similar images and made a copy of the two models.

While planning ahead for this project, I knew I was going to base it off of COVID. Since the world has changed drastically in the past year, and we went into lockdown almost a year ago, COVID and masks are the perfect focus for the project. Almost all of my photos have a mask in them or symbolize something related to the virus. I emphasized the color of masks and the requirements we, as students, have to oblige to to stay safe. For my handcoloring images, I made sure to color the masks to bring out the color and make it one of the main points in the photograph. I overlaid images, handcolored them, and composited them to bring everything together to achieve the main goal of the project: COVID.
